Hi Ranjani... Sorry for such a late reply - I am opening my mails and website after a long time... Nice to know that I can have some company in drawing caricatures... I started taking up interest in caricature only recently - more like a few months only or so ago... So I am still very much learning.
I started taking interest in caricature after I attended a class by Stephen Silver on Character Design, which is where I want to land up. One of his class lectures covered bits of portrait drawing and caricaturing.. It wasn't in too much detail, but was pretty informative.
I have always been kind of good at portraits, and I see that you draw some good faces too.. I came to understand that caricature is just about letting yourself free to break some ground rules of drawing a face.. But, with a good understanding of what those rules are in the first place.
Well, the internet is full of techniques on how to draw funny faces or caricatures - for instance you can visit the site, http://www.drowlord.com/art/Tutorials/MadTV_Charicatures/01-basic.htm. He just starts you off on a basic, and then, like they all say - practice practice and more practice!! :)
I hope I have been of some bit of help.. Looking forward to hearing from you.. Would love to see some caricatures from you..
Happy New Year..
- Shalini
